Short into:
A trip to Harihareshwar is one of the must do trips in Maharashtra. It’s a complete holiday destination within 200km of Mumbai and Pune. To add a cherry on top, there’s a beautiful MTDC cottage resort with wonderful sea view.

Best time to visit:
Oct – Feb is a great time.

What to see:
There is a lot to do in Harihareshwar.
There are 2 coastlines, one on either side of the temple. The beach is clean and no hawkers here. Best place to spend an evening watching the sunset.

The Harihareshwar temple has a Shiva Linga and there is a smaller Kalbhairav temple adjacent to it.
Behind the temple, there are steps that lead you to the top and then down again towards the Cave view point. This is a famous point for people coming to Harihareshwar.
Good place for Selfie and Group photos.

Kindly don’t enter the water near the caves at all costs. It is very risky as the waves come in full force and can cost lives. Stay as far as possible when you go down.
The steps can get very hectic for people with knee joint issues.
From the MTDC cottage, you can see a beautiful sunrise. Yes, here you can see a sunrise. Prefer to book the MTDC Sea view Cottage. It’s an excellent property and opens up to a private beach section.

Whats nearby:
Shrivardhan is another good beach nearby.
There is also the Bankot fort across the Savitri river. You can use the ferry to reach here. The fort is in ruins but has wonderful views of the sea.

Travel Tips:
Do try the Amba (Mango) Vadi / Aam Papad and the Peru (Guava) Vadi sold by sellers near the Harihareshwar temple. They sell many other eatable items. You can try and let us know in the comments.
There is a Bank of Maharashtra ATM on the temple road and a Bank of India ATM not so far. There is no Fuel station nearby. The nearest one is at Shrivardhan. Make sure you have enough fuel
No need to carry water or food. There is everything here.
This is a beach. Carry sunscreen.
Most probably you would be here for picnic or late-night party. No matter how drunk or lazy you are, kindly consider the environment and DO NOT throw any kind of garbage. Carry it along with you. Dispose when you find dustbins.

Hotel Options:
MTDC has a good restaurant and a great location. Prefer staying here.
