A year-round gifted destination with lovely cool weather and some of man-made and nature’s best offerings. Though its no longer the hidden gem it used to be but the place somehow has the same magic it had even 10 years ago.
Distance: 44 km from Igatpuri
Best time to visit:
A year-round destination. Monsoon being the best time to witness the greens.
A huge tree and a huge Bhandardara dam behind
What to see:
Bhandardara Dam, Randha WaterFall, Umbrella WaterFall, Arthur Lake, Mt. Kalsubai trek, Ratangad trek, Amruteshwar Temple (some 1000 year old).
With so many things and beautiful weather throughout the year, Bhandardara sees no off-season.
You can camp here, do boating even after sunset, do a photo session or just laze around the lake.
Night camping and star gazing. Great place for night sky photo shoot.
One of the best places for Pre-wedding shoot.
This place will be generally crowded but nature is so abundant and huge that the crowd hardly matters.
If you have been here before, you surely know this structure.
Even in the month of May, this place gets strong and cold winds rushing on to you from every direction.
MTDC resort is the best place to stay here.
A strong gust of wind will bring out micro droplets of water from the lake. We would like to feature this place in Place to propose.
There is a Central Bank ATM near to MTDC resort however not sure if its in working condition. Fuel station can be found near Ghoti and Rajur. There is none in Bhandardara.
Use Bhandardara as the base for your treks and Purushwadi Fireflies.
If you are moving around do carry water. Food options will be available at your hotel.
Personal vehicle is recommended.
This being a tempting picnic spot, Kindly consider the environment and DO NOT throw any kind of garbage anywhere or in the water. Carry it along with you. Dispose when you find dustbins.
This place is in high demand at all times. You will require to do advance bookings. Specially if you want to stay at MTDC which has a bang-on location. The stay options are pretty less.
Apart from hotels, take your own tent and camp or join any of the groups that provide this facility. In the last couple of years, the number of camping sites have increased a lot around the lake area
